Over 90 citizens turned out to discuss the future of the I-75 Business Loop at our first public meeting in the West Branch Commmunity

The Growth Assessment Planners Committee (GAP), on behalf of the City of West Branch, West Branch Township, and Ogemaw Township were selected to participate in the second round of the Partnerships for Change program. This project involved the development of an Inter-jurisdictional Corridor Management Plan along the I-75 Business Loop, the major thoroughfare of the West Brach Community.

The GAP committee was created by local officials looking to establish effective communication and improve the working relationship between the three adjoining units of government. The 12 member committee has effectively established the need for a joint water/sewer authority and developed a tentative growth boundary. With the I-75 Business Loop Plan, the committee identified multi-jurisdictional planning techniques that work to: preserve and enhance the Victorian streetscape; control non-point source pollution; and increase the number of visitors to corridor businesses. The Inter-jurisdictional I -75 Business Loop Plan provides the framework for coordinated action to address theses needs.

Please visit the West Branch Community web site for more information.

Community Update: Public officials are still seeking new opportunities to implement several of the goals and objectives outlined in the Business Loop Plan.
